A Long Road to Tao
Gala Event at the Fountain Theatre

Meet producer/co-screenwriter Michael Allen and director/co-screenwriter Alex Carig. Allen is the author of “Tao of Surfing” which inspired the film.
Cast members Mike Clancy, Molly Reid, Norman Patrick Brown, Humberto Castro, Hilda Luz Chavez, and Gregorio Facio will also be present, as well as director of photography NMSU CMI professor Sherwin Lau and storyboard artist Gerry Fail.

Dayne, a struggling, stuck writer, finds himself shaken to learn that his best friend Lance, who mysteriously disappeared from the pro-surfing tour years earlier, is gay and dying of AIDS. He travels to the Southwest to find Lance and immerses himself into his idol’s mystical philosophies of Taoism and Native American spirituality.

The film was partially shot in Las Cruces and Mesilla and employed students from the New Mexico State University Creative Media Institute.
